Meet Noel, a third-generation Baker/Patissier from Belgium. With over 40 years of unparalleled experience in the art of baking, he has truly mastered the craft that runs in his family’s blood.

Noel’s journey began in Belgium, where he took his first steps into the world of baking by immersing himself in the family business. For more than a decade, he owned and operated the family bakery, perfecting his skills and perfecting traditional recipes that have been passed down through generations.

Fuelled by passion for baking and patisserie, Noel made the bold decision to sell his business and go on a journey of exploration and discovery. With a desire to embrace new opportunities and immerse himself in diverse cultures, he set his sights on New Zealand, where he managed bakeries, sharping his expertise in the industry.

One notable chapter of his journey involved playing a pivotal role in product development for Guylian Belgian Chocolate cafes. From the United Arab Emirates to Australia, Korea, and Shanghai, Noel’s creative genius and meticulous craftsmanship gave birth to an array of delectable delights that tantalized taste buds over multiple continents.

Noel’s globetrotting adventure is a testament to his insatiable curiosity, tireless dedication, passion and unwavering pursuit of excellence in the world of baking and patisserie. As his journey continues to unfold, he is leaving a delectable trail of flavours and experiences in his wake and as a seasoned expert in the baking industry, still on a transformative journey that continues to evolve.

With a wealth of knowledge and expertise, he now dedicates himself to sharing his passion with the next generation. As a tutor at Te Pūkenga in Tauranga, Noel empowers aspiring bakers and pâtissiers, guiding them to follow in his footsteps and carry forward the rich legacy of their craft.

His contributions extend beyond the local realm as well, as he was honoured with an invitation to serve as a guest tutor at the culinary department of the University of Alexandria in Egypt.

Furthermore, Noel is on an academic pursuit, obtaining his bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, further enhancing his credibility in the field. Noel’s journey is a testament to his commitment to both impart knowledge and excel in his own culinary endeavours.

Outside the kitchen, Noel loves to create social media baking videos and mostly cherishes precious moments with his family, enjoys staying active by going to the gym, and finds joy in hiking with his wife and immersing himself in the beauty of nature that New Zealand has to offer.
